Zippo moves slowly in a straight line until it collides with a block, bomb, or other enemy, at which point it pauses and then chooses a random direction and continues to move. It may choose to reverse directions even if it is not at a dead end. It will harm the player on collision.
After being hit by an explosion once, Zippo catches pauses briefly before changing it's pattern and resuming movement. It's movement speed increases and it will sometimes change directions at intersections. It will not pause if it runs into an obstacle. If it lines up horizontally or vertically with the player, and there are no bombs or blocks between them, it will move in the direction of the player. It should be noted that while it is initially catching fire, it is invincible.
In Super Bomberman 5, upon being hit with an explosion once, Zippo will increase its speed, but it does not seem to change its movement pattern. Also, the period for which Zippo remains stunned lasts much longer than it did in Super Bomberman 2.
The version of Zippo found Bomberman DS is identical to the one found in Super Bomberman 5, with the exception that this one does not become stunned after being hit with an explosion; it immediately resumes it's movements at a faster pace.
