BakeBake (バケバケ, BakeBake), also known as Nagachamu (ナガチャム, Nagachamu) and Toral the Ethereal (エーテルのトーラル, Ēteru no Tōraru), is an enemy in the Bomberman series. It is a derpy ghost that first debuted in Bomberman for TurboGrafx-16 and later became common in the Panic Bomber series.

Description[]

Bomberman (TG-16)[]

Nagachamu moves at a normal pace, turning or reversing directions upon colliding with a wall or bomb. It first appears in the sixth stage.[1]It takes 1 hit to defeat and yields a score of 100 points. Its hat is blue and its tongue is pink in this game.

Bomberman II[]

Nagachamu moves at a normal pace, passing through Soft Blocks and randomly turning at intersections. Occasionally, it will stop and teleport to a location near Bomberman. It takes 1 hit to defeat and yields a score of 200 points. Its hat and tongue are orange in this game.

Panic Bomber Series[]

BakeBake is one of the last enemies in most the games of this series, except in the Virtual Boy version. It drops blocks quickly onto its field.

In Super Bomberman - Panic Bomber W, it is the last non-boss enemy to appear. It piles up blocks into high stacks on the left and right sides of his field, and uses the middle area to create combos.[2]

Trivia[]

  • The name "BakeBake" probably derives from the Japanese word "obake", meaning "ghost".
  • According to the Japanese manual for the Virtual Boy version of Panic Bomber, BakeBake loves hot springs.
  • BakeBake bears some resemblance to The Groke from the Moomin series, but it closely matches to her obscure 1960 depiction, Licky-Licky.
