Dark Koutei (ダーク皇帝 Daaku Koutei, also known as Dark Emperor) is the primary antagonist in the Bomberman B-Daman Bakugaiden animated series and manga. His name means "dark emperor" in Japanese. He was voiced by Ryūzaburō Ōtomo in the Japanese anime.

Bomberman B-Daman Bakugaiden[]

The leader of the Dark B-Da, Dark Koutei is an evil being who appears in the form of a giant eye. He was thwarted once long ago, according to the legend of the seven heroes (which was shown in the first two episodes of the series). He has now returned and plans to take over the world and the entire Blue Solar System and subject them to his rule. The origins of the Dark B-Da are unknown, but it is possible they came from a different universe, considering the strange world in which they live which is shown in various scenes throughout the show. Later on, it's said that their universe is called Dark Space. Dark Koutei is the most powerful villain that the heroes face in the series.

Throughout most of BB-Daman Bakugaiden, he is shown in his giant eye form, residing in the Dark Castle, located in the alternate dimension Dark Space, which acts as the Dark B-Da's base of operations. Malicious, ruthless, cruel and menacing, he does not readily tolerate failure. As a result, he keeps minions who have failed him imprisoned in stone cells that float around space, resembling a cluster of asteroids. He has many Dark B-Da subordinates who serve him, but the most notable of them all are an elite group of four warriors known as the Four Great Dark Beings (四天王 Shitennou). They consist of: Drakken, Tiger, Shuringe and Sildork. They all pilot their own Dark Armors and are sent one after another to destroy the heroes defending their home of B-Da City and conquer Earth. The Shitennou are also led by Dark Koutei's strongest minion, Dark Prince, who has a mysterious connection to Black Bomber.

Dark Koutei has many true forms. In the anime, he becomes a giant, red, two-headed dragon. In the manga, there are different forms for each book including a giant scorpion and various structures containing eyeballs.

Trivia[]

  • His appearance is reminiscent of Sauron from the Lord of the Rings.
  • As much as he imprisons the Four Great Dark Beings and their minions for failing him, Dark Koutei does have a fair point in not imprisoning B-Darons. This is true for Tango's case.
